“This November marks 17 years since IBOSS was founded in 2008 and it’s been one of our most significant yet.
Over the past year, we’ve continued to evolve in ways that make a difference for advisers and their clients. From launching new tools and solutions that strengthen the advice process, to deepening our involvement in industry and community initiatives, 2025 has been defined by progress and collaboration.
As ever, our focus remains on delivering robust investment outcomes and a level of service advisers can rely on. I’m proud of what the team has achieved and even more optimistic about what lies ahead.” – Chris Metcalfe, IBOSS CIO & MD
Supporting Advisers and Clients
At IBOSS, our focus has always been on helping advisers deliver exceptional outcomes for their clients. This year, we introduced several new developments designed to make that process simpler, more transparent and more effective.
Blended MPS Launch
In June, we introduced the IBOSS Blended MPS, our fifth range, combining active and passive investing within a single risk-rated solution. The range reflects our commitment to helping advisers manage costs while maintaining flexibility and diversification, allowing them to offer clients a more balanced and cost-efficient way to invest without manually building their own blended portfolios.
MPS Cost & Risk Profile Calculator
To make research and comparison easier, we launched an online MPS Cost & Risk Profile Calculator. This tool enables advisers to view the total cost of each portfolio, including DFM fee, OCF and transaction costs, across different platforms, and even has the functionality to view specific risk profiler ratings. It’s simple but powerful to make everyday tasks more efficient.
OCF Cap Enhancements
Earlier this year, we also lowered the OCF caps across our MPS ranges, setting clear maximum ongoing charge figures that clients will ever pay for their chosen portfolio. While costs naturally fluctuate with fund movements, these caps provide reassurance and certainty for advisers and their clients alike.
New Educational Resources and Adviser Materials
We launched several new resources this year to support advisers and clients alike.
Highlights include Why Stay Invested?, a client guide explaining the value of long-term investing, and Decumulation Case Studies based on fictional scenarios to help illustrate real-world retirement income challenges.
We also released updated guides for each MPS range, making it easier for advisers to explain our philosophy and portfolio approach.
Together, these materials strengthen adviser conversations and help clients stay informed and confident.
Partnership with Mabel Insights
To improve the timeliness and accessibility of information, our partnership with Mabel Insights now enables us to provide monthly, rather than quarterly, portfolio factsheets. This ensures advisers and clients have up-to-date data and performance metrics available when they need them most.
Oxford Risk Integration
We were also pleased to announce the introduction of Oxford Risk ratings across the IBOSS MPS range. This enhancement gives advisers an additional profile tool to help align clients’ portfolios with their risk tolerance, strengthening the link between behavioural insight and investment selection.
Supporting Industry Progress
Beyond our day-to-day work with advisers, we’re proud to play an active role in the wider financial services community.
Women’s Wealth Alliance Sponsorship
In partnership with the Women’s Wealth Alliance, IBOSS sponsored the Women in Personal Finance Survey 2025, conducted by YouGov and a working group of the Consumer Duty Alliance. The initiative aims to increase female representation across the advice and investment profession, addressing key barriers to entry and progression for women in finance.
Sponsoring the Yorkshire Financial Awards 2025
As part of our ongoing commitment to regional excellence, we also sponsored the Yorkshire Financial Awards this year — celebrating innovation and achievement within our local financial community and supporting the growth of the sector across the North.
Together, these initiatives reflect our belief that progress comes from working collectively, helping to create a more inclusive, forward-thinking and supportive industry for all.
Supporting Our Communities
This year also saw the IBOSS team take on challenges outside the office, raising funds and awareness for meaningful causes.
Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge
A group of IBOSS employees completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in support of the Alzheimer’s Society. The team tackled 24 miles and 1,585 metres of ascent across Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, raising money for life-changing dementia research and support.
We’re incredibly proud of our colleagues who took part and grateful to everyone who donated.
As part of our wider sustainability and community focus, we continued our ongoing partnership with Ecologi, where we have planted 364 trees globally and funded projects that have helped avoid 29.55 tonnes of CO2e, the equivalent of taking 23 long-haul flights, saving 89 m² of sea ice, or preventing emissions from over 73,000 miles driven in a car.
Recognising Our Team & Achievements
Finally, 2025 has also been a year of recognition, both for IBOSS as a business and for the individuals who drive it forward.
- The team have, once again, been awarded the FTAdviser 5-Star Service Award in the DFM category. Making this the 6th consecutive year, and still the most awarded provider in the history of the category.
- Chris Metcalfe was once again named among Citywire’s Top 100 Wealth Managers, marking his fourth consecutive appearance.
- IBOSS MPS retained its Defaqto 5-Star Rating, reaffirming the consistency and quality of our investment proposition.
- We were shortlisted in the Moneyfacts Awards, Professional Adviser Awards and the Yorkshire Financial Awards for 2025, highlighting the strength of our service and the continued trust advisers place in us.
These milestones are a reflection of the hard work, expertise and dedication of every member of the IBOSS team, and the advisers who continue to choose to partner with us.
Looking Ahead
Seventeen years on, our mission remains unchanged: to help advisers deliver clarity, consistency and confidence to their clients.
We’d like to thank every adviser, client and partner who continues to be part of our journey. Here’s to the next chapter and to continuing to build, evolve and support together.
