IBOSS sponsor Women in Personal Finance Survey

IBOSS is delighted to have partnered with the Women’s Wealth Alliance, a working group of the professional body, the Consumer Duty Alliance, on a comprehensive survey to find out more about women’s career journeys within personal finance.

Managed independently by YouGov, the survey received 540 responses which will greatly contribute to providing a valuable picture of the career journeys and lived experiences of women in a wide range of roles across the sector. This includes financial planning, mortgage and protection advice, paraplanning, compliance and T&C and support roles.

The key aim of the findings will greatly inform the work of the Women’s Wealth Alliance, IBOSS, and the wider personal finance sector, in the ongoing challenge of building a more diverse sector, that better reflects the needs and perspectives of its clients.

The results of the survey have now been released and has revealed  high levels of levels of satisfaction around job flexibility, support and career opportunities across the sector.

Some other key features included:

  • 88% of women surveyed currently working in the personal finance sector reported that there is a great deal/ fair amount of job flexibility in their role
  • 82% think that they have a good work-life balance.
  • 93% of women surveyed who are currently, or have previously worked in the financial planning role would recommend it to other women. However, only 26% of women surveyed outside of this role would consider it in their future career.

Denise Webster, IBOSS Head of Strategic Planning, said:

“IBOSS are proud to be part of this important initiative and to share the survey, which highlights some insightful and positive findings. Financial planning is a rewarding and flexible career for women – I’m a huge advocate – but unfortunately, women still make up just 18% of the profession.

The results of this survey will help uncover how we can build a more gender-balanced profession for the future, with exciting times ahead.”
